I’ve lived a big life for a simple guy.
Grew up with grit, not privilege. Fought my way up in public service, earning a seat at tables most people never see. I spent decades building parks, trails, and open spaces that brought communities together—while battling bureaucracy, navigating politics, and learning how to lead in a system that doesn’t always reward common sense.
That journey gave me a front-row seat to how government really works—and why it so often fails.
I’ve worked with rockstars, movie stars, senators, presidential hopefuls, and world-class entrepreneurs. But the people who’ve taught me the most? Folks who built something from nothing—coaches, single moms, veterans, and small-town fighters who never quit. Titles never impressed me. Character did.
One of my favorite photos is with Alice Cooper—not because he’s famous, but because he quietly gives back, supports family/kids and plays a serious game of golf. People see the rockstar. I see a fellow musician and simple man who shows up for others. And I’ve met a lot of people like that—the kind who don’t need the spotlight to make a difference.
Now, I’m telling the truth as I see it.
Through stories, commentary, and a memoir-in-progress, I’m trying to help people think clearer, live freer, and worry a little less. I don’t have all the answers—but I’ve been around long enough to know when something smells off. And right now? A lot does.
I’m not here to impress. I’m here to help.
Join me. Let’s figure it out—together.
Truth-telling for a complicated and noisy world.
