I’ve spent over 40 years in public service—transforming parks, preserving open spaces, and creating systems that still deliver results today. I’ve led struggling districts to national recognition, merged agencies for long-term resilience, and built coalitions that united federal, state, and local efforts under a shared vision.
My career spans elected office, strategic consulting, and boots-on-the-ground leadership. I’ve earned three degrees (including a Master’s in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism), chaired statewide commissions, and helped guide policy from local boards to Capitol Hill. I’ve partnered with everyone from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to local farms, blending environment, health, and community into everything I touch.
I’ve helped launch and support some of the country’s most immersive wellness events—like Lightning in a Bottle—featuring yoga, meditation, music, and purpose-built spaces designed to spark connection and personal growth. I’ve worked hand-in-hand with the agricultural community to build systems and events that promote a healthier planet and population.
I also played a pivotal role in positioning a now-world-leading skatepark company—one that went on to design facilities used in the Olympics. When you believe in people and give them a real plan, incredible things happen.
Now I run Scott the Parksman—a platform for people who want straight talk, smart strategy, and a little help cutting through the chaos. I’m building a podcast, writing a memoir, and taking on select consulting work that aligns with my values and curiosity. I also donate my time to organizations that genuinely need help and respect the value of it.
I’m not chasing titles—I’m chasing meaning. If you want real solutions without the spin, welcome to the campfire.
Truth-telling for a complicated and noisy world.
