Who Am I?

Good question.

I've been a husband, father, grandfather, public servant, elected official, community leader, speaker, consultant, writer, golfer, musician, and occasional smart-ass.

I've also been wrong more times than I care to admit.

I spent decades building parks, trails, communities, and organizations. Along the way, I led major public agencies, served in elected office, worked with national leaders, and earned a few professional honors.

I've sat in rooms with politicians, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and people with more money than common sense. But some of the most important lessons I've learned came from everyday people who worked hard, treated others fairly, and never needed a fancy title.

Those are the people I relate to.

The older I get, the less interested I am in titles and the more interested I am in stories.

And trust me, I've got a few.

Some are funny. Some are embarrassing. Some involve genuine accomplishments. Others involve spectacular screwups that seemed like perfectly reasonable decisions at the time.

I retired at 57, not because I had run out of things to do, but because I finally understood the value of having the freedom to decide what to do next.

Along the way, I discovered something else: I have enough.

I don't need another paycheck, another title, or another meeting on my calendar. I've had my career. Now I'm enjoying my life.

These days, you'll find me spending time with family, playing golf, writing, working on my memoir, hosting conversations on TikTok, and creating videos for my YouTube channel, Scott's Room.

I talk about retirement, marriage, parenting, grandparenting, politics, money, faith, leadership, aging, and whatever else happens to be rattling around in my head.

I believe in common sense, personal responsibility, honest debate, and the importance of being able to laugh at ourselves.

What you won't find here is manufactured outrage, endless negativity, or someone pretending to have all the answers.

I certainly don't.

What I do have is more than six decades of experiences, a few scars, plenty of opinions, and a genuine interest in understanding how the world works.

I'm not trying to build another career or become the next internet celebrity. I'm simply sharing what I've learned, asking questions, challenging conventional thinking, and hopefully making a few people laugh along the way.

If you're looking for perfection, you've come to the wrong place.

But if you enjoy honest conversations, interesting stories, a little wisdom, and the occasional smart-ass observation, pull up a chair.
