WELCOME TO SCOTT THE PARKSMAN
Who Am I?
Good question.
I've been a husband, father, grandfather, public servant, community leader, elected official, speaker, consultant, golfer, musician, writer, and occasional smart ass.
I've spent decades building parks, trails, communities, and organizations. Along the way, I've sat in rooms with politicians, celebrities, entrepreneurs, and people with more money than common sense. I've also spent plenty of time with hardworking folks who never made the news but taught me far more about life.
Those are the people I relate to.
The older I get, the less interested I am in titles and the more interested I am in stories.
And trust me, I've got a few.
Some are funny.
Some are embarrassing.
Some involve leadership successes.
Some involve spectacular screwups.
Most involve lessons I didn't see coming.
These days, I'm retired from the career but not from life. You'll find me writing a memoir, hosting TikTok lives, creating YouTube videos, golfing more than I probably should, and sharing stories about everything from marriage and parenting to politics, money, faith, leadership, aging, and whatever else happens to be rattling around in my head that day.
One day I might talk about raising kids.
The next day I might explain why government drives me crazy.
Then I'll probably tell a story about my granddaughter, losing a golf ball, getting older, or making a financial mistake that seemed like a good idea at the time.
Nothing is off limits.
What you won't find here is outrage for clicks, endless negativity, or someone pretending to have all the answers.
I don't.
What I do have is six decades of experiences, plenty of scars, a sense of humor, and a belief that most of us are just trying to figure things out as we go.
If you're looking for perfection, you've come to the wrong place.
If you're looking for honest conversations, a few laughs, some life lessons, and stories from a guy who's been around the block a few times, pull up a chair.
Welcome to Scott's Room.
The coffee's on, the stories are true (mostly), and everybody gets a seat at the table.
Truth-telling for a complicated and noisy world.
